In Vino Veritas: Unique Wine Offerings, Staples, and Bubbly
With the change in seasons comes a chill that can sometimes only be warmed with a hearty meal and a bold glass of wine. At Veritas, our wine list is carefully curated to provide the best seasonal experiences, whether it be a lesser known boutique wine or a well known name and brand. Recently we added a French Burgundy Chardonnay, the Vincent and Sophie Morey Chardonnay, which has notes of great oak on the nose followed by a deep, rich mouthfeel. This powerful addition to our glass list pairs well with the wood grilled salmon, bringing out the wood flavor in both wine and food for a divine pairing. For the days when the sun is shining and we have reason to celebrate, whether it be a holiday, birthday, or any other special occasion, Veritas offers the local wine Marland/Wyncroft. The Marland Cabernet Franc, Rose, and Riesling Spatlese are fantastically vibrant, pairing well with the sweetness of our delicious carrot cake. The acidity in the wine brings out the buttery flavor of the cake, and the sweetness of the cake elevates the flavor of the wine. On the days when you need something reliable, approachable, and a little subdued even, the staple wine Ancient Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon calls out. The red fruit flavors and light tannins pair well with any of Veritas’ many artisanal steak options, and this wine is versatile enough to pair well with our blackened chicken tortellini, too. As the holiday season approaches, anyone looking to celebrate with some sparkling wine should look no further than our house favorite, Gruet. This delightfully bubbly wine, made in the same style as French champagne, Methode Champenoise, is perfect for any occasion. Its youthful fruit flavors as well as a lovely brioche undertone make for a bubbly that can stand on its own. Any visit to Veritas is worth some bubbly, which is why we chose ours so carefully. Consider a pairing of the Gruet with the truffle fries, a sublime combo that must be experienced first hand.
